Grateful Paw Cat Adoption Center

This is the official web site of the Grateful Paw Cat Shelter.
Grateful Paw is operated and funded by the
League for Animal Protection of Huntington, Inc.

"WE CATS CAN'T DO EVERYTHING! "
ROCKY SAYS WE ALWAYS NEED MORE VOLUNTEERS.

Rocky really did sit down on that chair at our front desk during one of his visits with his owner, a volunteer. No trick photography was needed.

The League for Animal Protection of Huntington, Inc.
is a non-profit, all volunteer organization dedicated to the
rescue and placement of stray and abandoned animals
in the Town of Huntington, New York.
Cats are housed in The Grateful Paw Cat Shelter
staffed by volunteers.
Volunteers from the League also work with dogs
housed in the Town of Huntington Animal Center.

LET ME CLEAR MY THROAT.

I'M HERE TO ANNOUNCE

IT'S KITTEN TIME NOW !!!!

SHELTER HOURS

TUESDAY through FRIDAY 12:30 to 4:30 pm,

Our TAG SALES in May and June
were a wonderful success.
Because of the hot summer days,
we'll wait until September to have another one.
We'll let you know.
The money collected will be used
for the care of our cats and dogs.
You'll meet us & find fantastic deals on great items.

And do I have a deal for you!
Please be kind to animals.
Do that and I'll feel good, and I promise you will too.
MAY 3 - MAY 9 is Be Kind to Animals Week
We animals have feelings just like you humans do.
So let's make a deal.
Make EVERY WEEK Be Kind to the Animals Week!

EVERY DAY IS TAG DAY.
<

I'm Tex, and I just happen to have stylish collars
here in case you need some for your pets.
April 4th is officially Every Day is Tag Day,
but hey, let me repeat, EVERY DAY!
Even if your pet stays in your house, you'd never
want him to accidentally scoot out un-tagged!
Please, tag or microchip your pets. Of course,
only one collar with a tag is needed for each pet.

APRIL is Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month. Report cruelty issues to the SPCA.

JUNE is Adopt a Shelter Cat Month, but come on down any month to find a feline friend for life.

AUGUST is Adopt a Homeless Pet Month, but that's a wonderful thing to do anytime!!

NOVEMBER is Adopt a Senior Pet Month

But meet our darling seniors,
CASS, JUAN, ZANE & CALCUTTA anytime.

ADOPTIONS

Our cats and kittens are not in cages,
so you can walk around the main rooms
and have a seat on one of our benches.
You won't be alone for long!
Our cats are already spayed or neutered,
checked by a vet, had all shots
(if over 4 months old),
and tested for FIV and leukemia .
Our cats are available for adoption
TUESDAY-FRIDAY 12:30-4:30
and SATURDAY-SUNDAY 12:00-4:00

ADOPTION FEES
Who says you can't buy love?

We collect $100, either cash or check, for each cat.
Think about how much more money you'd spend
for spay/neuter, blood tests
and inoculations at the vet.
A two week health warranty is included.
Some special breeds may be more than $100.
Sorry we cannot take credit cards or give refunds.

Speaking of NATIONAL VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION WEEK, which is APRIL 19-25 by the way,

MANY VOLUNTEER POSITIONS ARE AVAILABLE
If you're over 18, you can become
an office receptionist, pet socializer,
foster Mom for baby kittens,
transporter, fund-raising coordinator,
or one of our cleaners at the shelter.
All very rewarding - -
and also very good for your blood pressure!

HOW YOU CAN HELP

DONATIONS
You can specify a particular fund such as spay/neuter.
Please consider planned giving. Some of our biggest contributions have come through bequests.
You can DONATE ITEMS such as
Clorox, postage stamps, Bounty paper towel rolls
cat treats, cat nip, really fun toys for kittens,
KMR milk powder or
Hills Prescription Diet A/D canned cat food.

SPONSORSHIPS

<

Since there are many people who want to adopt but can't
for various reasons, we offer a sponsorship program.
Look at the photos above for Zane,Tricia with Zane,
Juan with Zane, Tamara,
Sadie, Connie, Harley and Cass with Jasmine.
Their dear long time friend Jasmine
recently crossed over the "Rainbow Bridge".
We know she is watching over her feline friends.
These cats have been with us for many years.
Some are not likely to ever be adopted,
so Grateful Paw is their home.
For only $30 per year, you can sponsor a cat.
You get a picture of the cat you are helping,
and you are welcome to visit your cat.
A great gift idea and a very meaningful
gift given in someone's memory.

Town of Huntington residents.

There is a $85 deposit for the trap, but only a $5 rental fee.
The $85 is refunded to you when the trap is returned,

Additional weeks are $5 for every two weeks.
Traps are limited, so there may be a waiting list.

4. Call us if you've found a lost cat,
or if you've lost your pet cat.
We will list the cat in our lost and found book.
